Wing Open Tournament Continues Friday

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The annual Air Force Wing Open Boxing Tournament continues this Friday (Feb. 21), when 28 cadets step into the Cadet Gym Boxing Room for the chance to move one step closer to becoming a Wing Open champion. Action is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. (MT) and admission is free.
Four Wing Open titles are on the line tomorrow, as championships will be contested at 112 pounds (Naomi Brabham vs Sierra Dace), 156 pounds (Noah Gilley vs Nathan Delarosa), 165 pounds (Malaika Ndifang vs Nebi Tsarni) and 195 pounds (Christian Hughes vs Mason Hendricks). The remaining 12 bouts will feature semifinal contests to determine the final card for next week's show.
While admission is free for this week's fights, tickets for the Feb. 28 finals in Clune Arena, can be purchased at AFTickets.com. Tickets are $8 (military, groups of 10+), $10 (Zone 2) and $15 (Zone 1).
The champions of the Wing Open will form the nucleus of the Air Force squad that will represent the Academy at the upcoming National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA) regional and national championship events. The Falcons will host the NCBA Western Regional at the Academy on March 6-8 (tickets on sale now) – while the NCBA Championships will be held in Lawrenceburg, Ind., on April 10-12.
