Chloe Perkins Breaks Academy Record on Second Day of MW Competition

HOUSTON, TX., - The Falcons end the second day at the Mountain West Conference Championships, on Thursday evening at the CRWC Natatorium. Air Force holds ninth place, thus far, notching 230 points.
Chloe Perkins highlighted the day's events, as she broke the Air Force Academy's current 3-meter springboard record and placed fourth in the 3-meter finals. The freshman notched a score of 327.55 which surpassed the previous record of 313.65 set by Kinzie Etzelmiller in 2023. "I am immensely proud of Chloe," said head diving coach Kyle Van Valkenburg. "Her fourth-place finish and her new school record are a testament to her dedication and drive." To earn her spot in the finals, she scored 291.40 in the preliminaries.
Van Valkenburg expressed, "She has put in so much work this year, I am so grateful I get to be a part of her journey in the sport and see what she does next. Having an athlete like Chloe has already had a huge impact on our diving program and I believe she will lead our team to even more success over the next three years."
The 400 relay team comprised of Kai-Min Tsuei, Naomi Furman, Amber Martin, and Abby Turner marked a time of 3:42.36 and claimed the eighth place finish.
In the 500 freestyle, Katie Andrist placed fourth in the B final and 12th overall. She touched the wall at 4:53.66. Fellow Falcons, Kirsten Lee finished in 20th at 4:55.04 to enter the Academy's all-time top ten and Lauren Arnold took 22nd at 4:56.38.
With a 2:02.40, Hanani Dona locked in the 12th spot of the 200 IM, with teammate Maeve Linscott in 24th with a time of 2:06.23.
Abby Turner swam a 23.20 in the 50 freestyle to complete the race in 20th.
The Falcons return to action tomorrow, Friday February 21st for day three of the MW Conference Championships at 10:30 a.m. CT/9:30 a.m. MT.
