
Falcons See Naomi Furman Break Academy Record at MW Championships

HOUSTON, TX., - The Falcons competed hard on day three of the Mountain West Conference Championships, on Friday at NRWC Natatorium. Air Force shifted back into eighth place, totaling a score of 349, so far.
The 100 breaststroke preliminaries saw a new academy record from Naomi Furman after she touched the wall at 1:01.68. She broke her own previous record that sat at 1:02.05. In finals, Furman placed 13th with a time of 1:02.32.
"Naomi has done a great job training and really stepped up this year to get the 100 record," expressed head coach Colleen Murphy. "I am constantly impressed with her work ethic and dedication to improvement."
Mandy Fleetwood finished the 100 breaststroke at 1:02.09 in finals to secure the tenth-place spot and move into all-time second at the Academy. Rounding out the Falcons in this event was Maeve Linscott, placing 19th at 1:02.57.
Abby Turner, Kai-Min Tsuei, Ryan Mills, and Lily Larson combined for Air Force's 200 freestyle relay team and took a 10th place finish at 1:33.25.
For 12th place, Hanani Dona notched a finals time of 4:21.79 in the 400 IM. Ella Martin swam a 4:26.05 to finish in 19th.
Tsuei represented AF in the 100 backstroke, earning 15th place with a time of 55.80.
In the 100 butterfly, Amber Martin marked the best finish for the Falcons, at 54.91 for 15th place.
Kirsten Lee was the lone Falcon in the 200 freestyle and placed 22nd, clocking a time of 1:51.20.
Air Force prepares for the final day of Mountain West Conference competition set for Saturday Feb. 22. The meet will begin at 10:30 a.m. CT/9:30 a.m. MT.
