
Women's Swimming and Diving Rounds Out MW Conference Championships

HOUSTON, TX., - Air Force women's swimming and diving completed their stint at the Mountain West Conference Championships, finishing the meet in eighth place overall, with a score of 546. Katie Andrist was the sole swimmer to earn Mountain West All-Conference honors. The Falcons saw two new school records and multiple top ten times taken over.
"I am so proud of the way this team stepped up throughout the week," said head coach Colleen Murphy. "The Mountain West Championship was the fastest and deepest it has ever been and our team rose to the challenge. Two school records went down, along with numerous top ten times, and some amazing performances by both the swimmers and the divers this week!"
Andrist swam the 1650 freestyle in 16:41.82 to take eighth place, the highest finish for Air Force swimmers. This accomplishment earned her a spot on the All-Conference team.
Hanani Dona and Chloe Perkins scored the most points for the Falcons in their respective events, notching 41 each.
Junior, Maeve Linscott completed the 200 breaststroke in ninth place at 2:14.68 to move into fourth all-time at the Academy. Following behind was Mandy Fleetwood in 15th place with a time of 2:17.41. Naomi Furman rounded Falcons in the 200 breaststroke finals, clocking a time of 2:15.21 in 17th.
The 400 freestyle relay team, embodied by Lily Larson, Abby Turner, Kirsten Lee, and Ryan Mills locked a ninth-place finish with a combined time of 3:22.41. Larson led off with a 50.36 100 split to shift into the sixth all-time at Air Force.
On the diving side, Annaliese Cundiff took the highest placement for the Falcons in the platform in 13th . She scored a 216.75, while Kacey Hu took 15th place with a final score of 204.90.
Lauren Arnold placed 15th in the 1650 freestyle and made her way to the Academy top ten list as the eighth all-time, clocking a 16:57.93. Following in 17th with a time of 17:05.37 was Jordan Evans.
In the 200 butterfly, Jena Nowoswiat took the highest placement for Air Force, securing 15th place after swimming a 2:03.48. Dona touched the wall at 2:05.42 to finish right behind in 16th. Fellow
Falcons, Abigail Hardy (2:02.33) and Lauren Arnold (2:02.52) finished in 17th and 18th, respectively in the C final. In 24th, Amber Martin finished at 2:08.63.
In the preliminaries, Addy Forbes completed the 200 backstroke at 2:00.36 for the seventh all-time Academy spot.
The NCAA DI Diving Zone E Qualifiers are set to begin on March 8, in Federal Way, Wash. The CSCAA National Invitational Championship will begin on Thursday March 13 in Ocala, Fla.
