Air Force Swimming Set to Compete at First Chance Invitational

DENVER, Colo., - The Air Force men's and women's swimming programs will attend the First Chance Invitational, hosted by Denver University on Friday February 7th and Saturday February 8th at the El Pomar Natatorium. The competition is scheduled for a 3 p.m. MT start on Friday and will resume at 10 a.m. MT on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT (MEN)
Following senior recognition and festivities, the Falcons defeated Denver University, 192-186, at the Colorado Sprint Championships, on Saturday afternoon. Air Force saw 12 swimmers compete in finals, with James Winterfield placing first in three events and Bridon Rosales marking one top finish.
To open the meet, the Falcon relay team of Winterfield, Rosales, Tanner Wilson, and Jacob Bulseco earned a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay, at 1:29.05.
Junior, Winterfield, touched the wall in first at 1:38.87, in the 200 freestyle final, while teammate, Joe Christ, trailed in a close second, 1:39.26.
In the 50 butterfly final, Winterfield notched a time of 21.78 to take his second top finish of the day and earned a CSCAA A Standard and the second-fastest Western Athletic Conference time.
Winterfield finished at 1:49.61 to earn a first-place finish in the 200 IM final, with Camden Swigart earning second place, after marking a time of 1:51.70.
Taking first in the 50 breaststroke, Rosales notched a 24.75 finish, for a CSCAA A Standard, with teammate Mack Nuval right behind, at 25.29, locking in a CSCAA B Standard.
The 500 freestyle final saw three Falcons place top five. Tyler Surratt led, touching the wall in second at 4:35.50. With a time of 4:36.66, Christ followed in third. Freshman, Evan Witte, rounded out the top five, clocking a 4:39.73 finish.
LAST TIME OUT (WOMEN)
Following senior recognition festivities for the Falcon graduates, Air Force soared to victory over Denver University, 194-184, at the Colorado Sprint Championships, on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons recorded 12 top five placements, with individual wins by Kai-Min Tsuei and Abby Turner.
Senior swimmer, Turner, notched a first-place finish in the 50 freestyle final, clocking a time of 23.51. She was followed by teammate Lily Bachl in fourth, at 23.83
Touching the wall at 26.07, Tsuei won the 50 backstroke and marked a CSCAA B Standard. Hanani Dona trailed in third with a time of 26.20, while Addy Forbes marked a fourth-place finish at 26.46.
In the 200 medley relay, the Air Force team of Tsuei, Naomi Furman, Amber Martin, and Turner finished with a time of 1:42.03 in first place.
With a win on the line, Ryan Mills, Turner, Tsuei, and Bachl out swam the Pioneers to take first at 1:34.10, securing a victorious outcome for the Falcons.
UP NEXT
Air Force women's swimming and diving will travel to Houston, TX to compete in the Mountain West Championships from February 19th – February 22nd, while the men's program heads to Houston, TX from February 26th – March 1st for the Western Athletic Conference Championships.
