
Falcons take second in tri-meet

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force rifle team, ranked eighth in the nation, took second at a tri-meet in Columbus, Ohio, Thursday, Feb. 6. With an aggregate score of 4707, the Falcons defeated No. 12 Ohio State (4704), but fell to No. 2 Alaska-Fairbanks (4753).
Senior Lauren Hurley and junior Victoria Leppert tied for seventh in aggregate, each shooting an 1178. Hurley was fourth in smallbore with a 588 while Leppert was seventh with a 585. In air rifle, Leppert, sophomore William Steen, freshman Lily Wytko and freshman Bethany Butler all tied for eighth with a 593.
Air Force will battle for the Patriot Rifle Conference Championship, Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 8-9, in Ft. Wayne, Ind. The match starts at 8 am ET each day. Live scoring will be available at MegaLink.
