
Falcons Earn Third Place Finish at WAC Championship Meet

HOUSTON, TX., - Air Force men's swimming and diving earn a third place finish, having scored a 638.5 at the Western Athletic Conference Championships, on Saturday night at NRWC Natatorium.
The final day's events were highlighted by a trio of podium finishers, Louie Body, Tyler Surratt, and James Winterfield, who all recorded third place in their respective races.
"The guys were amazing tonight," said head coach Rob Clayton. "It was a spectacular finish to a tremendous season. I am very proud of how far this team has come in the last year and of all the hard work they put in."
Distance swimmer, Surratt took the bronze medal for his time of 15:13.68, which also falls at 5th all-time for the Academy and an NCAA B Standard. In the same race, Tucker Rice finished in fifth, touching the wall at 15:19.06, while Camden Swigart placed eighth at 15:32.90.
Louie Body notched a third-place podium finish in the 200 backstroke, clocking 1:43.98 for 2nd all-time for the Falcons and an NCAA B Standard. In the B final, Garrett Kennedy was first to touch the wall at 1:46.10 for ninth place, overall.
In the 200 butterfly, James Winterfield swam a 1:44.46 for bronze and 2nd all-time for Air Force, along with an NCAA B Standard. Fellow Falcon, Daniel Detjen, followed behind in fifth place with a time of 1:46.75.
The 200 breaststroke saw Tommy Nagle in the fourth spot, earning an NCAA B Standard for his time of 1:55.82. Tanner Wilson narrowly trailed with an NCAA B Standard, as well, at 1:56.11. Rounding out the top eight was Bridon Rosales, with a time of 1:58.58, for seventh.
Diver Korbin Meyer marked the highest finish in seventh on the platform, recording a score of 291.85. Teammate, Brady Nichol, scored 287.20 to claim eighth place.
