Women’s Tennis Falls at UNLV

LAS VEGAS – Air Force Women's Tennis, after a protracted stay in San Diego to open Mountain West play and short turnaround thereafter, took on UNLV in Las Vegas on Sunday, falling 4-0 to the Rebels at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

Air Force fell in a tight doubles contest, dropping matches on courts one and two. Alexis Odom/Maya Michalski, facing 9-1 Nikol Mircheva/Hanna Vinahradava, ceded a 6-3 set to give UNLV the early advantage. Shivaani Selvan/Arianna Van Houweling fell in a tight 7-5 battle with Rebels Cindy Hu/Coco Zhao, as UNLV clinched a 1-0 lead after doubles.

In singles, the Falcons went down on lines two (Odom vs. Veronica Kliuch), three (Van Houweling vs. Coco Zhao) and four (Michalski vs. Mircheva) in order, completing the shutout. Sophomore Nadia Kojonroj, squaring off with Hu on the top flight, won a 7-4 tiebreak to decide the first set then led 1-0 to open the second, before the match was abandoned due to UNLV's clinch.
