Air Force Baseball's Luke Elmore Earns First MW Player of the Week Honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., - For the first time in his career, Luke Elmore has been named the Mountain West Player of the Week, as released by conference officials on Monday afternoon.
Across four games this week, the Falcon outfielder batted .438 with seven hits, two of which were homers, scored five runs, and accounted for eight RBIs. He posted a slugging percentage of .813 and an on-base percentage of .500.
In a midweek against South Dakota State, Elmore went 2-for-3 with a single RBI and a trio of plated runs. He put Air Force on the board with a first-pitch RBI single, ultimately helping the Falcons to run-rule the Jacks, 15-2.
The sophomore was a vital component in game one against Mountain West opponent, Washington State. Elmore logged an impressive day at the plate, hitting his first and second career home runs for a team and career-high five RBIs. The Falcons notched a come-from-behind victory after the Panama City, Fla., native made it a one-run 11-10 game on a three-run blast, in the bottom of the fifth inning. Elmore helped the Falcons shift into a 15-14 lead in the bottom of the eighth when he sent a two-run homer out of the park, for the game-winning run.
In the final game of the series against Washington State, Elmore finished 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs. As the Birds were down, 4-2, Elmore helped level the score with fours across the board on an RBI single. He helped the Falcons power ahead and secure the 14-9 win, contributing with an RBI single in a six-run eighth inning.
So far this season, Elmore holds a batting average of .271, 16 hits, one double, a triple, two home runs, and three stolen bases. Defensively, he is one of two starters with a perfect fielding percentage, along with 21 put outs.
