Following a national search, the Air Force Academy Athletic Corporation (AFAAC) has hired Tyler Boone as its associate athletic director of development. He will be responsible for leading Air Force Athletics' fundraising efforts and the Falcon Athletic Fund team. In his new role at Air Force, Boone will oversee the athletic department's development unit, with an emphasis driving incremental philanthropic and premium seating revenue.
"We are excited to welcome Tyler Boone back to Colorado Springs and the Falcon family," said Senior Associate Athletics Director of External Operations, Dr. Matt McGahey. "Tyler brings a modernized, best-practice approach to relationship building, fundraising and philanthropy and a wealth of experience across college athletics that will serve our cadet-athletes, athletic department and constituents well."
Boone, who was previously employed at the Air Force Academy from 2015-2017, most recently worked at The Ohio State University as director of development, specializing in major gifts, from 2022-2025. In this role, he directly managed a portfolio of donors and prospects in central Ohio, West Virginia, and the West Coast with targeted solicitations of $100k and above. He also worked closely with the Buckeye Club annual fund and premium seating team. He served as the development contact for Ohio State softball, volleyball (men's and women's), and wrestling programs.
"I am incredibly proud and honored to come back to Air Force Athletics and help this team continue its great success," said Boone. "This is a powerful brand with powerful supporters and there is no better mission to support in college athletics. Heidi and I are excited to be back in Colorado and I am ready to get to work."
Before arriving in Columbus, Boone worked at the University of Toledo as the associate director of development in 2021. During his time at the institution, he held a leadership role in creating the 1923 Society – the Rocket's premier leadership giving program.
From 2017-2021 he led a one-person athletics development operation at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. In this role he created the Purple Lights Fund, SFA's annual giving program, managed premium seating, served as the primary contact for 17 sport programs, while serving a lead role navigating through the pandemic.
Boone makes his way back to Colorado Springs where he served as a Development Associate with Air Force Athletics from 2015-2017, following his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University. During his first stint at Air Force, he completed his master's degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Sport Administration.
Tyler and his wife, Heidi, have two children, Layla and Callen. Boone will begin his employment at the Academy on Monday, April 21, 2025.
