
Falcons shoot best road round in Arizona

U.S AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force golf team shot its' best road round, and matched its' best overall round of the year, in the first round of the Cowboy Classic, Monday, March 31, at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Course in Maricopa, Ariz.
In the first round, Air Force shot an even-par 288 to tie for 16th place with CSU Northridge. Sophomore Eli Huntington led the way with a 70 (-2), tying for 22nd in the field of 120 golfers. Huntington tied his best road round of the season with his 10th round at or under par. He was even par on the front side and played the back in 34 (-2) with three birdies and just one bogey on the day. Senior Cameron Kahle and junior Brooks Morrell each shot even-par 72. Kahle made five birdies , including three on the back side for a 34. Morrell made three birdies and played each side in 36. Junior Eric Liveringhouse shot a 74, followed by sophomore Carson Baker at 75. Freshman Jackson Scaletta, playing as an individual, shot a 77.
Iowa State led the 23-team field with a 271 (-17) after 18 holes. San Diego and Long Beach State tied for second at 275 (-13) in the first round.
The second round was suspended due to darkness with all teams playing 14-16 holes. In the second round, Morrell is leading the Falcons at even par through 16 holes.
The second round will be completed on Tuesday morning, starting at 7:30 am MST (8:30 am MDT), followed by the final round of 18 holes at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Course in Maricopa, Ariz.
