Falcons Open Postseason Hosting NCBA Western Regionals

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force boxing team opens the championship portion of its season this weekend, when it hosts the National Collegiate Boxing Association Western Regional at the Academy. The Falcons will welcome their regional counterparts from California, Nevada, Oregon State, Sacramento State, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Stanford, UC Davis, UCLA, USC, Utah, and Washington to the Academy over the March 6-8 weekend.
The first two days, as well as the third-place bouts on March 8, will be held in the Cadet Gym Boxing Room, while the championship fights will take place in Clune Arena. Tickets ($10 per day, $25 all session) can be purchased online at AFTickets.com. Fans attending regionals – who do not have a DOD ID – will need to obtain a pass to enter the base (click here and click the needed day)
Air Force will be represented over the three-day event by freshman Juneau Kim (men's 119 pounds), junior Duong Tran (men's 125 pounds), sophomore Julianna Morris (women's 125 pounds), sophomore Sebastyan Correa Rios (men's 132 pounds), junior Elise Bell (women's 132 pounds), freshman Russell Klug (men's 139 pounds), freshman Maya Lee (women's 147 pounds), senior Luke Kohout (men's 147 pounds), sophomore Noah Gilley (men's 156 pounds), freshman Sela Panuve (women's 156 pounds), sophomore Ellison Taylor (men's 165 pounds), junior Neo Takazawa (men's 175 pounds), sophomore Justin Bonilla (men's 185 pounds) and junior Christian Hughes (men's 195 pounds).
Five weight classes will be unopposed at the Western Regional, with sophomore Naomi Brabham (women's 112 pounds), senior Cass Rosa (women's 119 pounds), senior Peyton Glenn (women's 139 pounds), freshman Nebi Tsarni (women's 165 pounds) and junior Thomas Kensinger (men's heavyweight) scheduled to claim regional titles pending weigh-ins.
After sweeping the team titles at last year's NCBA Western Regional, the Air Force men have claimed 40 of the last 43 regional titles, while the women have won the last three.
