Women’s Tennis Picks Up 4-2 Win in MW Road Finale at Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Air Force Women's Tennis picked up its second road match victory in a week, as the Falcons downed Colorado State 4-2 on Friday evening in Fort Collins.
The Falcons (9-12, 3-5 MW) bagged their fourth-straight doubles point and twelfth of the dual season, as Nadia Kojonroj/Sofia Mavor and Alexis Odom/Maya Michalski delivered a one-two punch to secure a 1-0 Falcon lead in the match. Kojonroj/Mavor, taking on CSU's Mariya Dobreva and Diana Lizarazo, improved to 2-2 as a pair behind a 6-2 win to get the Falcons into an early advantage. Odom/Michalski picked up their third-straight victory while improving to 9-5 on the year with a doubles-clinching 6-4 victory over Ram pair Logan Voeks/Viktor Zhadzinskaya.
Leading into singles, Air Force got a boost in the tally as CSU withdrew from their court six match with freshman Shivaani Selvan, leaving the Falcons with a 2-0 advantage.
CSU's Victor Erechtchenko worked the Rams onto the scoreboard, striking first with a 6-4, 6-4 win on line three over Air Force junior Arianna Van Houweling, lifting the Rams back within a point at 2-1.
From there, all remaining singles matches went three sets. Kojonroj, taking on Zhadzinskaya on court two, claimed a 6-2 opening set then went down 6-4 in the second, before powering to a 6-0 shutout in the third to score her tenth singles win of the season. Mavor split her opening two sets on line five against Lizarazo, 7-5, 2-6, before going down 7-3 in a third-set tiebreak, holding Colorado State within a point of evening the tally.
Odom, in the final regular season road match of her Air Force career, secured the clinch on line one over Weekley. Odom took a razor-thin 8-6 tiebreak victory in the opening set before falling 6-4 in the second. The Falcons' captain battled with Weekly through the third on the way to a 6-4 win of her own to secure the match and head coach Taylor Hollander's first career win over her former team.
