Air Force senior punter Luke Freer was named one of the Ray Guy Eight for his performance last week at Utah State, according to an announcement from the organization.
Freer, who is on the Ray Guy Award watch list for 2025, became the all-time record holder in career punting average at Air Force during the Utah State game. Freer punted three times for a 56.7 mark with a long of 60 yards. His first punt gave him 50 for his career, which is the minimum needed to qualify. He has a 46.5 career mark which broke the record of All-American Mark Simon.
Freer is averaging 53.3 yards per punt this season. He would lead the MW by nearly six yards per punt and lead the nation by two years per punt, but he lacks enough attempts to qualify.
Aidan Laros of Kentucky, Angus Davies (Tulsa), Brett Thorson (Georgia), Dylan Joyce (Miami), Jack Bouwmeester (Texas), Jack McCallister (Purdue) and Keelan Crimmins (Illinois) join Freer as honorees this week.
