USAF ACADEMY, Colo. -- Senior Ashley Bible and sophomore Alysa Walker became the first set of Air Force Volleyball teammates in recent history to record at least 20 kills in the same match during a tough 3-2 loss to Northern Colorado this evening (Sept. 19) at the Academy. The Falcons won the first two sets by 25-21, 25-22 margins, but were unable to hold off the Bears' comeback, as the visitors captured 25-21, 25-19, 15-8 wins for the reverse sweep.
Bible posted a career-high 21 kills to lead all players and become the first Falcon since Denise Ssozi (2016-19) to record multiple 20-kill matches in a career. Walker accounted for 20 to become the 22nd Falcon to reach that milestone at the Division I level.
Sophomore Grace Fiaseu added 10 kills to the Falcons' total, as the trio accounted for 51 of the team's' 61 kills. Fiaseu also helped the Falcons to a 12-block night, as she made five stops – including a pair of solo blocks. Senior Alex Hatchett led the Falcons with six stops (one solo, five assisted), while three others accounted for multiple stops. Senior Jordan Suan had two of the team's four aces and added a team-high 16 digs, while Bible (13) and Walker (10) also tallied double-digit dig totals to account for double-doubles. Sophomore Mia Loyd rounded out the Falcons' stat leaders with 49 assists.
Air Force will close out the Into the Blue Invitational – and the non-conference position of the season – tomorrow (Sept. 20) morning, when it hosts Utah Tech at 11:00 a.m (MT).
