Evan Medders named National Football Foundation Player of the Week

Sophomore quarterback Evan Medders was named the National Football Foundation, Colorado Chapter, player of the week for his performance in Air Force's 28-7 win over NIU Oct. 10.

Medders started for the first time in his career and responded with career highs in every rushing category, rushing for 114 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries. Seven of his carries went for first downs, in addition to his two touchdown runs which marked the first multiple-touchdown game of his career.

His first touchdown run gave Air Force the lead for good, 14-7, while his second touchdown run, a career-long 41-yard run, clinched the game late in the third quarter. Medders engineered a dominant rushing performance, as the Falcons went for 439 yards and had five players with seven or more carries. He became the first Air Force quarterback to win his first career start since 2024.

Medders is third on the team in rushing with 223 yards and three touchdowns and is averaging 6.6 yards per carry. He has completed three of seven passes for 47 yards and a team-leading one touchdown.

This is the first player of the week honor for Medders and second for Air Force this season. Liam Szarka earned the honor vs. Nevada on Sept. 26.
