Air Force Falls At Stetson Thursday

Air Force men's tennis dropped a 5-2 match at Stetson Thursday at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center in Deland, Fla.

The Falcons opened by taking the doubles point, but the Hatters rallied in singles by going 5-1 to take the match.

Air Force opened with wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles. Jack Brown and Tyler Leaird defeated Mandia/Verlaguet 6-4 at No. 1. AJ Moore and Langdon then clinched the point with the win at No. 2 over Kuehne/Padilla 6-4.

In singles, the Falcons win came at No. 5, as Tingleaf defeated James Lorenzetti in three sets. Tingleaf rallied back down a set and then won the third-set tiebreaker, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (1).

Stetson clinched the match by winning the first four singles matches.

"It was a close match with Stetson for the team today," head coach Evan Urbina said. "I was proud of our doubles, fighting back after losing five first sets, and how we handled ourselves with professionalism in the environment. It was a great match to learn from and improve. We are excited to turn our attention towards Army this Saturday."

Air Force returns to action Feb. 14 against Army at the USTA National Center in Orlando, Fla.
