Falcons Break 400 Medley Relay Record on First Day of MW Championships

HOUSTON, TX., - Air Force women's swim and dive closed out their first day of competition at the Mountain West Conference Championships, hosted at CRWC Natatorium. The day was highlighted by a 400 medley relay record and seven Academy top ten swims.
"This was an amazing first day for our team," explained head coach Colleen Murphy. "Our depth was evident and we are so proud of the total effort and the amazing 400 medley relay record."
The 400 medley relay team, comprised of Kai-Min Tsuei, Naomi Furman, Ryan Mills, and Lily Larson broke the standing record with a championship time of 3:39.09, placing ninth. The previous record was 3:40.77, set in 2017.
In the 500 free, Larson earned her spot in finals with a ninth-place time of 4:52.79, the fourth best time in Academy history. She went on to place ninth overall and shift up the ranks with the third all-time finish in the event at 4:50.27. Freshmen Sadie Hartig (4:53.05) and Abby Miller (4:55.85) also represented in the event finals. Miller's preliminary swim ranked at ninth all-time after she touched the wall at 4:54.62. Katie Andrist placed 15th overall with a time of 4:57.99.
On the diving side, Chloe Perkins recorded the highest placement for the Falcons, with a 1-meter score of 279.90. Kacey Hu (275.30) and Lulu Semakula (274.95) followed behind in 10th and 11th, respectively.
Furman posted the highest finish in the 200 IM finals after clocking a time of 2:02.57 for 15th place. In the preliminary round, Elizabeth Sistrunk jumped into the seventh spot all-time after swimming a 2:02.99.
The preliminary swims of the 50 free saw Mills shift into the sixth all-time spot at 23.23, while Tsuei moved to seventh with her time of 23.30.
Air Force will be back in action for day two on Thursday Feb. 19 at CRWC Natatorium. Prelims will begin at 10:30 a.m. CT and finals at 6:00 p.m. MT.
