Falcons Break Pair of Records on Day Three of MW Championships

HOUSTON, TX., - Falcons swimming and diving posted a productive day at the Mountain West Championships on Friday at CRWC Natatorium. Air Force saw two Academy records broken, along with a pair of top ten final finishes, and sit at 6th in the competition with a score of 571.
"We had a great night tonight," expressed head coach Colleen Murphy. "We broke two school records and swam a bunch of new top ten times. Our 800 free relay was amazing, the divers took fourth place in the new team diving event, and Naomi Furman crushed her school record again."
Furman reset her own 100 breast record, with a time of 1:00.70 to take sixth overall. Senior Maeve Linscott went for 17th with the fifth fastest event time for the Falcons at 1:02.41, while Mandy Fleetwood (1:03.08) followed behind in 18th.
The 800 free relay team of Lily Larson, Sadie Hartig, Hannah Seal, and Brynn Bond broke a decade old program record with a combined time of 7:13.42, finishing in fourth place. Larson's 1:46.96 lead off shaves her second all-time finish in the 200 free.
During the team diving event, Air Force combined for a score of 282.40 to finish fourth out of ten teams.
In the 200 fly finals, Natalie Doig posted a top ten time to place 11th at 2:00.78, while Jena Nowoswiat clocked her finish at 2:02.13 for 13th place.
Kai-Min Tsuei posted a time of 54.55 for the second fastest time in Air Force history during the preliminary rounds of the 100 back. In finals, she placed 15th at 55.08. During prelims, Addy Forbes (55.49) and Brynn Bond (55.60) also cracked the top ten times list.
Murphy said, "Our team is swimming fast and having fun; they are having an amazing meet."
The Falcons will close their time at the Mountain West Championships on Saturday Feb. 21 at CRWC Natatorium. Prelims will begin at 10:30 CT with finals taking place at 6 p.m. CT.
