RENO, Nev. -- The Air Force boxing team wrapped up the regular season with an impressive showing at the Mills Lane Memorial on Friday, Feb. 6, in Reno. Backed by a pair of unanimous decisions, the Falcons accounted for four victories in their six-bout card against their regional counterparts at the Eldorado.
The Falcons opened the night with three-straight victories over contenders from UC Riverside. Junior Naomi Brabham, the reigning NCBA champion at 112 pounds, put the women on the board with a 119-pound victory over Haley McCreery, while senior KJ Jackson used a unanimous decision over Alejandro Rojas at 139 pounds to put the men on the board in the next bout. Sophomore Juneau Kim completed the Falcons' early sweep of the Highlanders with a 125-pound victory over Alejandro Sierras.
Junior Allyson Keel pushed Air Force's win total up to four in the next bout, as she claimed a unanimous 141-pound victory over Stephanie Lopez of UC Davis.
In addition, two other boxers also represented the Academy at Friday's event. Freshman Brock Buak suffered a 160-pound loss to Nevada's Graham Lemmons, while senior Chinonye Mbanugo, the 2024 NCBA champion at 132 pounds, dropped her return to the ring with a 147=pound loss to Sacramento State's Ayahna Gonzales.
With the regular season complete, Air Force returns to action – and the Academy – on Friday, Feb. 13, for the second round of competition at the annual Wing Open Tournament.
