Air Force Falls To Nevada At Credit Union 1 MW Championships

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Air Force men's basketball fell to Nevada (21-11), 80-45, in the opening round of the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Men's Basketball Championships Wednesday afternoon at Thomas & Mack Center. Freshman guard Kam Sanders led the Falcons with 12 points.
It was a tough go for the Falcons from the start, as Nevada raced out to a 13-0 lead. A 16-0 run by the Wolf Pack later in the half put the game out of reach, as the score at the half was 39-10 Nevada.
Corey Camper Jr. led Nevada with 11 points. Chuck Bailey added 10 points.
The Falcons were much improved in the second half, scoring 35 points. For the game, Air Force shot 29 percent from the field and nine percent from three. The team had nine steals and went perfect from the line at 11-for-11.
Sanders finished up his freshman season at Air Force with 400 points and 121 assists, both Academy freshman records.
Joining Sanders in double figures scoring was junior forward Kolby Gilles with 10 points. Gilles finished the tail end of his season strong, reaching double figures in scoring for the second straight game. He was a perfect 6-for-6 from the line and had a career-high three steals.
Sophomore forward Eli Robinson led the team with five rebounds and a blocked shot. Sophomore guard AJ Patterson had a game-high four assists.
The Falcons cap the season with a 3-29 record.
