Air Force 4, Baylor 5
Air Force recorded nine hits in the opener, led by Tripp Garrish with two and an RBI. J.D. Wolff, Kayden Bradshaw, and Cam Anstey accounted for the Falcons' remaining RBIs.
Josh Holst took the initial start Saturday evening, throwing 1.1 innings with two strikeouts before the game was suspended due to weather. When play resumed Sunday, Jordan Watkins (0-2) took over and went three full innings, striking out two while allowing four runs. Marcus Downing closed the final 3.2 innings with one strikeout and one run allowed.
The Falcons struck first for a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Wyatt Hanoian opened the inning with a single to left, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and moved to third on a groundout by Luke Elmore. Wolff followed with an RBI groundout up the middle to bring Hanoian home.
The game was suspended shortly after with one out in the bottom of the second inning.
After play resumed Sunday, Baylor evened the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the third before taking a 2-1 lead in the fourth.
A three-run homer in the fifth extended the Bears' advantage to 5-1.
Air Force mounted a late rally in the top of the ninth, plating three runs to pull within one. Back-to-back singles from Elmore and Blake Campbell put runners aboard before Ben Niednagel moved them over with a groundout. A throwing error by Baylor's shortstop allowed Kayden Bradshaw to reach while Elmore scored. Pinch hitter Anstey followed with an RBI double to right, bringing Campbell home, and Garrish drove in Bradshaw with an RBI groundout. The Falcons' comeback attempt fell just short, 5-4.
Air Force 1, Baylor 6
The Falcons again tallied nine hits in the second game, with seniors Garrish, Walker Zapp, and Niednagel collecting two apiece. Zapp accounted for Air Force's lone RBI.
Bowen Brantingham made the start (0-2), matching his season high with 4.1 innings pitched while striking out four and allowing three earned runs. Davis Rhyne recorded one out and allowed three runs before Sam Hentges entered and tossed 1.1 scoreless innings with a strikeout. Easton Miller closed the game with two scoreless innings and two strikeouts.
Baylor was first on the board in the bottom of the second inning, taking a 2-0 lead.
The Falcons responded in the top of the third to cut the deficit in half. Campbell and Garrish opened the inning with consecutive singles before Zapp delivered an RBI double to plate Campbell and make it 2-1.
The Bears broke the game open in the bottom of the fourth, scoring four runs to extend their lead to 6-1.
Air Force had multiple scoring opportunities with runners on base throughout the game but were unable to capitalize.
