THIS WEEK: The Air Force golf team will travel to Augusta, Ga., for the 47th annual Augusta Haskins Award Invitational, hosted by the University of Augusta, Saturday-Sunday, April 4-5, at Forest Hills Golf Club. Live scoring will be available on Scoreboard by Clippd.
THE LINEUP: The Air Force lineup is: 1- Brooks Morrell; 2- Ben Zeiler; 3-Carson Baker; 4-Eli Huntington; 5-Eric Liveringhouse
THE FORMAT: Golfers will play 36 holes on Saturday, April 4 and the final18 holes on Sunday, April 5, on the par-72, 7,086 course. Each team will play five golfers with the top four scores counting toward the team score each day. Saturday's shotgun start is at 8:30 am ET. For the final round on Sunday, tee times will begin at 8:30 am ET off of No. 1 and No. 10.
THE FIELD: The 16-team tournament field features seven teams ranked in the top 30 in the nation, including three in the top 10. Air Force will compete against Augusta, Georgia (No. 22), Georgia Southern, Houston, Illinois (No. 10), LSU (No. 4), Mercer, Notre Dame (No. 27), North Carolina (No. 17), Northwestern, Oklahoma State (No. 7), Oregon State, Pepperdine (No. 14), St. John's, Virginia Tech. All rankings from Scoreboard by clippd as of March 25, 2026.
ABOUT THE AUGUSTA INVITATIONAL: The 2025-26 Augusta Haskins Award Invitational marks the 47th year of the event. The host school, the Augusta Jaguars, has won the event 12 times. Last season, Texas and Oklahoma State tied for the team title at 844 (-20). North Carolina's Davis Ford won the individual title at 204 (-12). Past winners of the event include Phil Mickelson, Justin Leonard, Vaughn Taylor, Dustin Johnson and Cameron Young just to name a few. Past individual runners-up include Scottie Scheffler and Will Zalatoris. Created by the Haskins Commission in 1970, the Fred Haskins Award is given annually to the "Most Outstanding Collegiate Golfer of the Year" as voted on by NCAA Division 1 golfers, coaches and select golf media. The Haskins Award honors Mr. Fred Haskins, a respected past head professional at the Country Club of Columbus, who dedicated his career to teaching junior golfers the art of competitive golf. Founded in the rich tradition of golf in Augusta, Ga., the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational has grown since its first year in 1979 as one of the top tournaments in Division-I golf.
LAST TIME AT THE AUGUSTA INVITATIONAL: Air Force last played in the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational in 2023. Florida, ranked 12th in the nation, won the tournament with a three-round score of 825 (-39). No. 6 Illinois was second (837, -27) and No. 22 Virginia was third (840, -24). Air Force was 15th with a 933 (314-309-310). Current Falcons, Ted Davenport (243) and Brooks Morrell (246) were freshmen that season. Chris Park was the top Falcon, tying for 59th at 226 (+10).
Air Force also played in the tournament in 2019, placing 15th overall with a 901 (+37) [296-304-301). Josh Wu tied for 48th overall with a 54-hole total of 220 (+4). Both tournaments were played at Forest Hills.
LOOKING AT THE FALCONS: Four Falcons have played all 24 team rounds this season. Eli Huntington leads the team with a 75.01 season stroke average. Brooks Morrell is second (75.63), followed by Carson Baker (75.51) and Eric Liveringhouse (76.24). Freshman Ben Zeiler has played 15 rounds and has a season stroke average of 74.36. Huntington shot the team's lowest round of the season at Bandon Dunes with a 67 (-4) in the first round.
LAST TIME OUT: Air Force posted its second-best tournament of the season at the UC San Diego Invitational, March 22-24, at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, Calif. In the final round, Air Force shot a 296 for a three-round score of 873 (+9), just one stroke shy of the team's best tournament of the season (Loyola Intercollegiate, Feb. 16-18). The 873 was also the Falcons' best ever at the UCSD Invitational. Air Force finished 11th. Freshman Ben Zeiler shot a one-over-par 73 in the final round and placed 15th overall at 213 (-3), the best tournament of his career. Junior Carson Baker also shot 73 (+1) in the final round and placed 25th at 216 (even), the best 54-hole tournament score of his career. Each player made three birdies on the day. Junior Eli Huntington finished the tournament at 219, followed by Eric Liveringhouse (227) and Grant Samuelson (231). Ted Davenport, competing as an individual, shot a 232.
ZEILER NAMED MW FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Ben Zeiler was named the Mountain West Men's Freshman Golfer of the Week for his performance at the UC San Diego Invitational, March 22-24, in La Jolla, Calif. Zeiler finished the tournament in 15th place after shooting a 213 (-3), the best tournament score of his career. His 213 is the best road tournament by a Falcon since Feb. 25-27, 2024 (Eli Huntington, 212, at Loyola Intercollegiate). The native of Del Mar, Calif., shot a 69 in the second round, his career-best road round and his second best overall. Over the 54 holes at Torrey Pines, he made 12 birdies and nine bogeys and played the 12 par-5s in eight-under-par. Zeiler is the first Falcon to earn a Mountain West weekly golf award since Kyle Westmoreland, March 5, 2014. He is the first ever Falcon to win the MW Freshman of the Week Award since its inception in 2022.
