U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo., - Air Force baseball (23-24, 14-9) fell in game two to Washington State (27-23, 15-8), 14-4, on Saturday afternoon at Erdle Field. The Falcons picked up seven hits while the pitchers combined for five strikeouts.

During pregame, Air Force was honored to welcome Lieutenant General John Shaw (Retired) to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. A distinguished USAFA graduate, Lt. General Shaw helped form the United States Space Force and served as one of its first general officers.

At the plate, T.J. Oster went 3-for-4 and scored two runs, while Wyatt Hanoian and Christian Taylor accounted for one RBI apiece.

Starting pitcher, Ethan Dillinger (1-2) allowed four runs through two outs. Gaines Estridge followed with 3.1 innings of work, allowing six runs and striking out two. In 1.2 frames, Josh Holst logged a pair of strikeouts and four runs. To close, Easton Miller threw 1.1 scoreless innings.

The Cougars jumped to an early start, 4-0, in the top of one.

Air Force answered with a pair in the bottom of the same inning. Oster led off the inning with a single and was sent to second on a single from Ben Niednagel. A fielder's choice helped Oster advance to third before Hanoian plated him with a sacrifice fly.

In the second, Washington State extended into a 7-2 advantage.

The Falcons scored one in the bottom of three, 7-3. Once again, Oster reached on a single and moved up on a groundout. An error on the Cougars' shortstop enabled Oster to score from second.

Seven runs for WSU from the fourth through sixth frames put them up, 14-3.

In the bottom of the sixth, Air Force plated one run for a final score of 14-4. With two away, Garrish singled through the right side and was sent across the plate by a Taylor double.

The series finale is set for 12 p.m. MT at Erdle Field. Prior to the game, Air Force will honor their six-man senior class with a special recognition ceremony, beginning at 11:40 a.m. MT.
