Juan Ramirez Achury Joins Air Force Women’s Tennis Staff

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Juan Ramirez Achury has been named an assistant coach for Air Force women's tennis for the 2026-27 season, announced today by head coach Taylor Hollander.
"We are very excited to welcome Juan as our second assistant coach for Air Force Women's Tennis," Hollander said. "His coaching experience, knowledge of the game, and strong work ethic will be instrumental in taking our program to the next level. His addition will provide valuable coverage during matches and on the road, which will be a game-changer for our program. We are excited about the impact Juan will have on our team."
Ramirez Achury comes to the Academy after building a successful coaching career across NCAA Division I, NAIA, and the high school ranks.
Ramirez Achury most recently served as head tennis coach at Lubbock High School, in Lubbock, Texas, where he led the program to a UIL Bi-District appearance in his first season. Under his leadership, the program grew by more than 40 student-athletes through intentional recruiting and community engagement while implementing a culture of academic excellence. Concurrently, he served as lead tennis professional at The Falls Country Club, directing the Junior Development Program and working with competitive junior players.
Prior to Lubbock High School, Ramirez Achury spent one season as an assistant coach at the University of Texas at Arlington after serving two seasons as the volunteer women's assistant coach at the University of North Texas. During his time with the Mavericks, he was a member of the coaching staff that helped the men's program capture the 2024 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championship and earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Before arriving at UTA, he helped the University of North Texas women's program reach as high as No. 69 in the ITA Collegiate Rankings, marking the program's first national ranking since 2015. He also served as tournament director for the ITA Summer Circuit, overseeing an event featuring more than 100 athletes.
Before joining UNT, Ramirez Achury served as Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach at his alma mater, Southwestern College. During his tenure, he helped guide the women's program to a conference championship, an NAIA National Tournament appearance, and a national ranking while gaining experience in recruiting, player development, scheduling, and overall program administration.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Ramirez Achury has worked as a tennis professional at Denton Country Club and graduate assistant coach at Tabor College.
A native of Bogotá, Colombia, Ramirez Achury graduated from Southwestern College in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in sports management and minors in business administration and psychology. As a student-athlete, he was a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and a member of the 2019 conference championship team—the only men's tennis conference title in program history.
