Air Force Sweeps Friday Games at Fullerton Tournament

Air Force men's water polo (9-3) rolled to a pair of wins Friday at the Fullerton Tournament on the Cal State Fullerton campus in Fullerton, Calif. The Falcons defeated Redlands, 19-10 and Chapman, 18-5. Air Force has now won five in a row and six of its last seven.

In the opener against Redlands, the Falcons went up 5-1 after the first quarter of play and never looked back. Seven goals in the second quarter put Air Force ahead 12-5 at the half. The Falcons tacked on four goals in the third and three in the fourth.

Senior Tom Leggett led the Falcons with six goals scored. Sophomore Blake Fuchslin added a hat trick and three assists for six points. Sophomore Max Ellis and junior Dante Nocetti added two goals each.

Freshman Wyatt Sturgeon had 10 saves in goal for the win.

Air Force was even more dominant in the nightcap, as 10 different players tallied goals.

The defense was on its game for the Falcons, holding Chapman to just one goal scored in each of the first three quarters and just two in the fourth. The Falcons led 4-1 after the first quarter and 10-2 at the half. The lead expanded to 14-3 after three quarters.

Freshman Pierce Bateman led Air Force with four goals. Fuchslin added three goals and two assists for 11 total points on the day. Leggett tallied three goals and senior Jack Richards added two goals.

Sturgeon had seven saves in the win in goal.

Air Force returns to action tomorrow, Saturday, back at the Fullerton Tournament. The Falcons take on host Cal State Fullerton and Concordia-Irvine.
