Eight Falcons Earn Wins in Season’s First Friday Night Fights

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. -- With seven of the eight contests going to the judges for decision, the Air Force boxing team kicked off the 2026-27 season with a hard-hitting round of Friday Night Fights this evening (Sept. 25) at the Coach Eddie Weichers Boxing Gym inside the Academy's Cadet Gym.
Freshman Benny Rodriguez captured the first victory of the season – and the first of his career, as he secured a 173-pound, split decision win over sophomore newcomer Mouhammed Sene in the first bout of the night. Fellow newcomer, sophomore Jinwon Choi also picked up his first collegiate victory, as he earned a split decision win over sophomore Brock Buak in a 170-pound matchup.
The winners of the four other men's bouts were all determined by unanimous decisions. Senior Geoffrey Kim made his return to the ring with a 155-pound decision over junior Mohammad Khaliq, while junior Hayden Boone decisioned classmate Alan He at 145 pounds and sophomore Ayo Aweh earned the decision in his 163-pound contest with fellow sophomore Braxton Galat. In a rematch of last year's 132-pound Wing Open final, junior Russell Klug closed out the night with a 143-pound victory over senior Sebastyan Correa Rios.
The women sent four contenders into the ring on Friday, with senior Allyson Keel and sophomore Addison Eldridge coming away with victories. Keel claimed the only early win of the night, as she forced the referee into halting her 142-pound bout with sophomore newcomer Chikamdi Okeakpu at the end of the second round. Eldridge earned a 122-pound victory in the final women's bout of the night, claiming a unanimous victory over freshman Anne Macayra.
Air Force is back in action next Friday [Oct. 2], when they host service academy rival Navy in the annual showdown between the two programs. The first bell is set to rung at 5:00 p.m. (MT) inside Weichers Gym.
