Camp Check-in Process
Parents and Young Soccer Players,
Thanks for considering the AF Boys Soccer Camp this summer! Soccer is a fun sport that is played around the world at every level. We would love the opportunity to provide an environment to introduce your young soccer player to the game or hone the skills of the seasoned player. Though Soccer can be a very physical and strategic sport, it is also very rewarding for all ages of players, parents and fans.
The AF Boys Soccer Camp is primarily a technique, tactical, strategy and skills camp. It provides campers the opportunity to play on a full size field every day, with emphasis on functional and positional play. We like to emphasize technique as well, because it is the most crucial fundamental of all. During scrimmages we also focus on systems of play that most clubs and schools are using: 4-4-2; 4-3-3; etc. Goalkeepers benefit from being in a group of their own where they receive instruction in the mornings and game experience in the afternoons.
Each day the camp runs from 8:30am to 4:00pm with the exception of Friday which is a half day camp, 8:30am-12:00pm, with the recognition program starting at approximately 11:00am at the Cadet Soccer Stadium. The campers will be released to their parents immediately following the ceremony. Parents are encouraged to attend the recognition ceremony and are welcome to observe sessions during the week.
Campers are put into their respective age groups on the first day. However, players may be moved up according to ability. The mornings are dedicated to technical work, with the afternoons geared towards tactical and positional play with scrimmages in the final hour of each day. Groups under 12 focus on 6 versus 6 and the rest is 11 versus 11 competitions. Our instruction is divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced players.
Workout gear should include:
Keepers: goalie shorts and or pants, jersey, gloves, shin guards, soccer socks, indoor and outdoor soccer shoes.
Field players: t-shirt, shorts, soccer socks, shin guards, outdoor and indoor shoes.
Other recommended equipment includes rain gear, cold weather gear and a cap for protection from the sun.
It is of utmost importance for the development of your player to stay in touch with the game as much as possible. Our camp offers that additional time beyond club play, high school play and tournaments. We provide a fun atmosphere where your child will receive instruction, small sided games and full game competition. Thank you for considering our AF Sports Camps! We are confident it will be a rewarding experience for your future star.
Go Falcons!
