Junior Season (2003): Two-way player appeared in two games on the mound and four on the field... Batted .286 with two hits and three runs scored... Had an on-base percentage of .444... Did not allow a run in two of the three games he pitched in... Pitched two perfect innings, while striking out three against Utah on May 11... Threw a perfect inning against Utah on May 22... Got hit first career base hit against Monmouth on March 8.
Sophomore Season (2002): Played on the junior varsity team.
Freshman Season (2001): Played on the junior varsity team.
Payson HS: Lettered four years in baseball and three in football... First-team all-state and all-conference as a junior and senior at pitcher/catcher and first base... Second-team all-state and all-conference as a senior center in football... Started on baseball and football teams that won state championships as a junior... High school?s student of the year as a senior.
Personal: Member of Cadet Squadron 19, the Wolverines? Major is human factors and systems design? Birthdate is July 8, 1982? Has made the commandant?s list five times for military excellence... Had a busy summer participating in introductory flight training and was the Leadership Reaction Course Commander where he oversaw the effective training of all cadre (upper class cadets) and that of 1000+ new basic cadets... Favorite Major League Baseball team is the Arizona Diamondbacks... Son of Mick and Val Zumbro.
Why I came to the Academy: ?I came to the Academy because I wanted more than just a baseball experience. I wanted to be challenged in all aspects of college life, and I thought the Air Force Academy provided me the best head start on life.?
