During his tenure with the Trailblazers, Ipson oversaw infield defense and served as the third base coach while contributing to all facets of the program, including team offense, hitting, baserunning, academics and fundraising.
In 2026, Ipson helped lead a prolific Utah Tech offense that ranked among the nation’s top 25 in batting average, hits, on-base percentage, walks and runs per game. He also helped develop five All-WAC selections, including first-team honorees Kyle McDaniel, Ryan Kroepel and Ty Johnsen. Kroepel earned NCBWA District 8 Player of the Year and All-America honors and was a finalist for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award, while Miller Durham captured the WAC batting title with a .406 average.
Ipson also helped establish the Trailblazers as one of the WAC’s top defensive teams. In 2025, Utah Tech ranked tied for first nationally in double plays per game and earned its first Division I postseason victory. Since joining the staff in 2023, the Trailblazers have also recorded six wins over Power Five opponents.
Prior to returning to Utah Tech, Ipson spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Dixie High School, where he helped the Flyers to consecutive top-three finishes and saw 14 players advance to college baseball. Ipson played four seasons at then-Dixie State, primarily at first base, and was a three-time academic all-conference selection.
A native of St. George, Utah, Ipson graduated from Dixie State with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2020. In June 2024, Ipson earned his Master’s degree in Sports Management from Louisiana State University.
