Merrill F. West HS: Lettered one year in baseball... Team MVP and all league MVP as a senior... Did not play baseball junior year due to a broken jaw suffered in practice... Team co-captain and MVP as a freshman and sophomore... Went 7-1 with a 2.01 ERA as a senior, striking out 83 batters while walking only 11 in 49 innings pitched... Offensively, batted .473 with 11 doubles, six triples, 23 RBI and 26 runs scored as a senior.

Personal: Member of Cadet Squadron 7, the Shadow Seven... Major is civil engineering... Birthdate is Feb. 1, 1985... Future goal is to become a civil engineer or an architect... Son of Jack and Linda Lowry.

Why I came to the Academy: ?I came to get one of the best educations in the country. That and the fact that I[apos]ve always wanted to be in the military since I can remember, and after my recruiting trip I knew this place had so much to offer in the way of programs; like jump and soaring, and an assured career after graduation.?

My plans for the future: ?Right now I[apos]d just like to graduate with a civil engineering degree. After that, I[apos]m not sure if I want to fly yet.?
