Capt Landon Tomcho, the 2017 NCBA champion at 139 pounds, is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Air Force boxing team. In addition to his coaching duties with the Falcons, Tomcho also serves as a combatives instructor and is the Chief of Cadet Scheduling for the athletic department.
Prior to his assignment at the Academy, Tomcho served as a developmental engineer for computer systems in the Air Force. He spent more than three years working with Special Operations, Search and Rescue, Force Protection, and other career fields that utilized various mobile- and cloud-based software solutions rooted in artificial intelligence and machine learning. He has also served as a program manager, principal engineer for combat information systems innovation, and executive officer at the Air Force Research Laboratory.
Tomcho, a native of Cambridge, Ohio, graduated from Air Force in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering. He earned a master’s in computer science (software engineering) from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 2019. While at the Academy, Tomcho was a vital member of the Falcons’ boxing program and captured the 139-pound national title as a senior. A two-time NCBA All-American and regional champion, Tomcho competed in three Wing Open finals, winning the 139-pound championship in 2017.
