HIGH SCHOOL: Morley Stanwood High School...state champion in the 800-meter run...clocked a prep-best time of 1:55.10 to win that event at the Michigan LP-3 Championships in 2019...seven-time all-state selection (four in cross country, three in track)...picked up top-10 finishes at the state cross country championships as a junior and senior...also competed on the basketball team...earned all-state honors as a junior...graduated with Highest Honors.

PERSONAL: Son of Curtis and Amanda McLaughlin...has three younger siblings...nickname is “Sugar McLaughlin”...currently undecided on a major, but considering aeronautical engineering...future plans include becoming a pilot or joining the Special Forces...hobbies include playing basketball and being on the water...two uncles – Braden Bush, Aaron Bush – were sprinters for Central Michigan University...member of Cadet Squadron 04.
