Entering first season as a cadet manager with the Air Force cross country team...competed in three meets as a sophomore...posted a personal-best 8K time of 26:25.1 to finish 16th out of 219 runners at the Woody Greeno Invitational and help Air Force to the Division I team title...added a top-25 performance at the Rocky Mountain Shootout (24th, 26:52.5)...opened the season with a 5K time of 15:35.0 at the Colorado State Invitational (37th)... academic all-conference selection...also competed at the Woody Greeno Invitational as a freshman, finishing 61st out of 233 runners with an 8K time of 27:04.8.
HIGH SCHOOL: West Springfield High School...five-time all-state selection...member of the cross country team that finished second at the 2014 VHSL State Championships...ran on the 4x800-meter relay that won the Emerging Elite race at the New Balance Indoor Nationals...also ran on the 4xMile Relay that placed 10th at the NBNO meet...two-time team MVP...member of the National Honor Society...Honor Graduate.
PERSONAL: Full first name is Timothy, but goes by Tim...nicknames are "CFourC", "Smeagol" and "Junior"...son of Bill and Laurie Ward...father is a 1987 Air Force Academy graduate and retired in 2015 as an O-6...oldest of four children -- Will (18) is a member of the cross country and track teams at Christopher Newport University, Caleb (14) is a freshman in high school, and Anya (13) is in the eighth grade...majoring in legal studies...future plans include becoming a pilot and JAG...served as Morale, Welfare and Recreation Clerk, Honor Clerk and Athletics NCO...named to the Dean's List all four semesters...named to the Athletic Director's List three times...hobbies include getting stress fractures, building his own computer, music, being a C4C, talking to Smeagol, being the best boxer on the cross country team, drinking root beer and doing pullups...would like to add a quote from SpongeBob Squarepants: "I was born with glass bones and paper skin. Every morning I break my legs, and every afternoon I break my arms. At night, I lie awake in agony until my heart attacks put me to sleep"...favorite restaurants are diners, three of which are "near and dear to AFXC's heart"...once spent $100 on a Broadway show in New York City so Jaci Smith wouldn't have to go alone...can name all 12 of Andrew "Chappie" Tankersley's siblings in order of age...completed Operation Air Force at Columbus AFB, Miss., over the summer ("I threw up in a T-38 and fell asleep in a T-1")...also worked Expeditionary Survival and Evasion Training ("I turned C3Cs into Bear Grylls")...member of Cadet Squadron 01.
