Marc Bacote is in his fourth season as tight ends coach at Air Force. He has overseen the development of Bruin Fleischman last season, who had four catches for 95 yards in his first season as a starter. He also helped 2024 graduate Caleb Rillos led the position with eight catches for 97 yards. His tight ends has played a role in the offensive line powering the way for the Falcons to three-straight national rushing titles from 2020-22. Rillos was a post-graduate scholarship award winner and played the 2024 season at Florida while attending graduate school.
Bacote came to the Academy after spending two years at Hampton, where the team was first in the conference in total offense and second in third-down conversions. Bacote coached first-team all-Big South receiver Jadakis Bonds.
Bacote was co-offensive coordinator, receivers and quarterback coach at Howard in 2019, prior to his stint at Hampton.
He spent two seasons as the wide receivers coach at Richmond from 2017-18. Bacote led the Spider’s receiving corps in 2017 that accounted for over 3,000-yards receiving. He led three wide receivers to all-Colonial Athletic Association honors in 2017, Dejon Brissett, Cortrelle Simpson and Tyler Wilkins. All three were ranked in the top four in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in receiving yards, the top six in receptions and the top seven in receiving touchdowns.
His Hampton squad finished first in the MEAC in total defense in 2015 and third in total defense in 2016. He coached third-team all-MEAC selection Brenden Cole in 2016.
Bacote served his first stint at Hampton after spending a season at the Apprentice School, where he served as defensive coordinator in 2014. Under Bacote’s tutelage, the Apprentice School improved in several defensive categories, including points per game allowed, total yards per game allowed, third down efficiency, and redzone defense. From 2011-13, Bacote coached cornerbacks at Old Dominion, including 2011 second-team all-CAA selection Eriq Lewis. ODU made the FCS playoffs with Bacote on-staff in 2011 and 2012, including the CAA’s top record in 2012, before the Monarchs began the transition to FBS in 2013.
In 2010-11, Bacote worked at Rutgers as a quality control coach, where he worked with the team’s wide receivers and defensive line. While at Rutgers, Bacote coached two future NFL players in Mohamed Sanu and Tim Wright. From 2008-09, Bacote coached wide receivers at Morehead State.
His first coaching job came in 2008, when Bacote served as a volunteer assistant at James Madison, working with the Dukes’ wide receivers.
Bacote was a wide receiver at James Madison for four seasons (1997-2000), where he was a part of the school’s first conference championship team. He graduated from JMU with a degree in kinesiology, after spending five years playing arena football.
Bacote and his wife, Sara, have three children: Lake (10), Lennox (7) and Hendrix (5).
