Personal – Son of Karl and Julie Apfel … has three siblings … both parents graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1980 … his father, Karl, was a four-year lettermen in baseball and his mother, Julie (Richards), was an All-American swimmer … majoring in geospatial sciences … would like to attend pilot training following graduation … would like to fly commercially someday … hobbies include playing and watching sports, working out and spending time with his family and friends … is on the dean’s and athletic director’s lists … was on the cadet leadership cadre for survival training and also completed the powered flight program last summer … completed Operation Air Force in the summer of 2014.
