Cam Griffin, a San Antonio native, is in his third year as an assistant coach on the Air Force men’s basketball staff in 2022-23. He joined Air Force after spending last season as an assistant at Chipola College.
Last year at Chipola, Griffin helped guide the Indians to an 18-10 record, finishing fourth in the Panhandle Conference. Off the 2019-20 squad, the Indians sent six players to Div. I programs.
Griffin began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Abilene Christian University. While at ACU, Griffin coached three all-conference players. During his time at Abilene Christian, the Wildcats made the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history and tied the school record for wins in a season (27).
Griffin is a 2015 graduate of the University of Denver, where he was a four-year letter winner for the Pioneers, playing all four seasons under then-DU head coach Joe Scott. He played in 102 games, including 56 starts. During his four seasons with the Pioneers, the team went 72-52 and made the NIT tournament in 2012-2013, en route to the program’s first-ever postseason win against Ohio University. Griffin was named team captain his junior and senior seasons, while winning the Vince Boryla award as well as being voted to the Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational All-Tournament Team in 2014.
At just 6-4, he led the Pioneers in rebounding in both his junior and senior seasons, averaging 5.8 and 6.1 rebounds per game in those seasons, respectively. Griffin finished with 141 career steals, tying him with former teammate Chris Udofia for seventh on the all-time steals list at Denver.
After his four years at Denver, Griffin played one season with the Texas Legends (2015-16) and one season with the Reno Bighorns (2016-17) in the G League, the NBA’s developmental league.
Griffin graduated from Denver in June 2015 with a degree in Journalism.
