JUNIOR (2008): Finished seventh in the 5000-meter run at the outdoor conference championships...with a time of 15:01.55, was one of four Falcons to finish within the top eight...clocked the season[apos]s third-fastest time in the 10,000-meter run (31:06.46) at the Drake Relays...finished second in his heat at that meet...posted the season[apos]s third-best time in the 5000-meter run (14:35.13) at the Husky Classic......earned the team[apos]s Track Athlete of the Week award once during the outdoor season.
SOPHOMORE (2007): Led the Falcons[apos] in the 10,000-meter run during the outdoor season...clocked a career-best time of 30:41.70 at the Oregon Invitational...that time is the ninth-best in Academy history...competed in the 5000-meter run during the outdoor season, posting a time of 15:03.64 at the MWC Championships...participated in the steeplechase, clocking a season-best time of 10:26.32 (adjusted for altitude) at the Rob Upton Invitational... competed in three events during the indoor season...clocked season-best times of 4:29.95a (mile), 8:36.69 (3000-meter) and 15:23.74a (5000-meter).
FRESHMAN (2006): Competed in the 3000-meter run during the indoor season, clocking a season-best time of 9:23.02a at the Air Force All-Comers Meet...also ran the 5000-meter run in 16:37.36a at the Air Force Invitational ...picked up a time of 15:38.97a in the 5000-meter run during the outdoor season at the Jack Christiansen Invitational...ran the 1500-meters in a season-best time of 4:05.21a at the Risdon Westen-Air Force Twilight Invitational.
HIGH SCHOOL: Four-time letterwinner in cross country and track...named Student-Athlete of the Year as a junior...four-time all-European honoree in cross country... clocked a personal-best 3000-meter time of 9:01.
PERSONAL: Son of Steve and Julie Cowles...father is an Air Force lieutenant colonel, who works in the Academy[apos]s athletic department and serves as an assistant coach of the cross country and track teams...has one younger brother, Aaron, who is a sophomore at the Colorado School of Mines ...majoring in American history...future plans include becoming a pilot...hobbies include Frisbee and card games...member of the Air Force cross country team.
