JUNIOR YEAR | 2021-22: Competed in the long jump during eight meets (three indoor, five outdoor)…recorded a career-best outdoor distance of 17’4¾” during a runner-up performance at the Air Force Twilight Open…also finished second at the Jerry Quiller Classic (16’10”)…posted a season-best indoor distance of 16’8½” at the Air Force Collegiate Open…academic all-conference selection…MW Scholar-Athlete.

SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2020-21: Competed in the long jump during 10 meets (five indoor, five outdoor)…registered a career-best distance of 17’7” at the UCCS Open during the indoor season…also reached the 17-foot barrier at the Air Force Holiday Open (17’5½”) and Wyoming Power Meet (17’0”)…posted an outdoor-best mark of 16’7” at the Jerry Quiller Classic…academic all-conference selection…MW Scholar-Athlete.

FRESHMAN YEAR | 2019-20: Participated in the long jump during five competitions...posted a personal-best distance of 15’11” at the Air Force Invitational...placed within the top half of the field at the Air Force Collegiate Open (15’10½”, seventh)...academic all-conference selection...MW Scholar-Athlete.

HIGH SCHOOL: Hillsdale Academy...2019 Michigan state champion in the long jump...eight-time all-state selection...claimed that honor in the long jump and as a member of the 400-meter, 800-meter and 1600-meter relays...also played basketball...all-district honoree in that sport...class salutatorian.

PERSONAL: Full name is Kathryn Elizabeth Van Havel...goes by Katie...daughter of Jeff and Teresa Van Havel...father is a 1985 Academy graduate, served as a fighter pilot and retired as a lieutenant colonel...mother was in the Air Force Nurses Corps, separating as a captain...has one older sister, Faith, a 2021 Academy graduate...also has a younger brother...majoring in biology...future plans include becoming an intelligence officer…serving as Group White Rope Officer…received biology department’s GSP Scholarship…worked Combat Survival Training over the summer...artist and singer…would like to add “I’m just happy to be here”...member of Cadet Squadron 19.
