Falcons Open 2026 Calendar Year at Potts Invitational

The Air Force track and field team returns to competition this weekend, as it kicks off the 2026 calendar year at the Potts Indoor Invitational in Boulder. The two-day event, which begins with the field events on Friday, Jan. 16, and continues with the running events on Saturday, Jan. 17, will take place at the Indoor Practice Facility on the Colorado campus.

MEET INFORMATION
The Potts Invitational will be held at Colorado's Indoor Practice Facility on the east side of Folsom Field. All six field events will take place on Friday, while the running events will take place on Saturday (a tentative schedule of events is listed below). Tickets can be purchased online at CUBuffs.com. Only water is allowed inside the IPF and spectators must adhere to Colorado's "Clear Bag Policy". Live results will be available. Air Force highlights will be posted on the team's official social media accounts [@af_tfxc].
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
FRIDAY – 12:00 pm: Women's Pole Vault, followed by Men's Pole Vault; 12:00 pm: Women's Long Jump, followed by Men's Long Jump, Women's Triple Jump, Men's Triple Jump; 2:00 pm: Women's High Jump, followed by Men's High Jump; 2:00 pm: Women's Weight Throw, followed by Men's Weight Throw; 2:00 pm: Men's Shot Put, followed by Women's Shot Put; SATURDAY – 11:00 am: 60-Meter Hurdles (prelim), 60-Meter Dash [prelim], Mile Run, Mile Run [masters], 600-Meter Run, 60-Meter Hurdles, 60-Meter Dash, 400-Meter Hurdles, 800-Meter Run, 200-Meter Dash, 3000-Meter Run, 4x400-Meter Relay [men compete first in all running events]

12.09.25 | Backed by two NCAA-leading throws at the Wyoming Power Meet, Texas Tanner was named the Mountain West Men's Field Athlete of the Week on Dec. 9 – marking the seventh such award of his career.
COLORADO CONNECTIONS
Eight Falcons hail from the state of Colorado, including one [Matthew Edwards] from nearby Monument. The squad's Centennial State roster also includes athletes from Breckenridge [Dominykas Remeikis, Josh Shriver], Cascade [Cody Kelley], Denver [Ryan Hajek], Glenwood Springs [Ella Johnson], Highlands Ranch [Jayden Nats], and Longmont [Ella Pears].
ON THE SIDELINES
Ryan Cole is in his fourth season as Air Force's Director of Track & Field and Cross Country and his 12th year overall as coach of the men's middle distance and distance runners, while Scott Steffan is in his fourth years as Head Coach of the track and field team and his 19th season overseeing the Falcons' jumps and multi program. Cole and Steffan will be joined by assistant coaches Laura Bowerman (women's middle distance, distance), Kyle Lillie (throws) and newcomer Dan Stoll (sprints, hurdles). Former coaches Scott Irving (javelin) and Mark Stanforth (distance), as well as former Falcons 1Lt AJ Kedge (recruiting) and 1Lt Michelle Roca (hurdles) will also assist the program.

The Falcons head back to Boulder next weekend (Jan. 23-24) to compete in the Colorado Invitational.
