FRESHMAN YEAR | 2024: Played in four matches before being sidelined by injury…made collegiate debut against Southeastern Louisiana…tallied a career-high two digs and four assisted blocks in that match…also assisted on four stops against Northern Colorado…recorded a personal-best four kills in the home contest with Denver.
HIGH SCHOOL | CLUB TEAM: Beachside High School…coached by Austin Lanteigne…three-year varsity letterwinner…two-time team captain…received the team’s most improved award and coaches’ award…helped team to the district championship as a senior…named to the “A” Honor Roll…graduated with a 4.3 GPA…ranked 37th out of 387 in graduating class…played at the club level for Jacksonville Skyline (coached by Hugh Herneman) and Powers Volleyball Club (coached by Marco Macias Vargas)…member of the 17s team that advanced to nationals in Chicago.
PERSONAL: Full name is Lainie Kathleen Stapleton…daughter of Robert and Heather Stapleton…father played basketball at Shorter College, before spending 24 years in the military (13 years as an acquisitions officer in the Air Force, 11 years as a physician in the Navy)…has two brothers (one older, one younger) and one older sister…majoring in management…future plans include becoming an acquisitions officer…hobbies include being outdoors, spending time with friends and family, painting and going to the beach…played basketball her entire life, before switching to volleyball as a high school freshman…completed Combat Survival Training and Powered Flight over the summer…also took an academic class (electrical computer engineering)…greatest personal moment in sports was committing to play volleyball at the Air Force Academy...member of Cadet Squadron 12.
