Captain Carla Cimo

On Wednesday, March 1, head women's soccer coach Laura Busby announced the addition of Captain Carla P. Cimo to her staff. Cimo will serve as the volunteer assistant coach for the upcoming 2023 season.
In addition to her role with the Falcons, Cimo is Executive Officer for the Commander of the United States Air Force Preparatory School. As well as managing daily tasks and operations of the Prep School, Capt Cimo pilots the Husky Innovation Team. She identifies solutions to enhance Cadet Candidate’s experience, knowledge, and warrior ethos while aligning efforts with AF Cyberworx and DoD Spark Cell communities to get after elevating performance and building future leaders of character. Additionally, she leads a Women Empowerment Club that seeks to build relationships and collaboration across all three Prep School Mission Elements for the female staff members.
Prior to this position, Capt Cimo oversaw the Physical Education curriculum portfolio, created and led an all-inclusive Strength and Conditioning program, and prepared 240 Cadet Candidates for their Physical Fitness Test. Captain Cimo directed a well-rounded workout regimen by leading Group Physical Training and crafted tailored workouts for physically deficient Cadet Candidates. Prior to this assignment, Captain Cimo advised best business practices and drove enterprise solutions in the Category Management Program Support Office at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
Her support and advisory efforts facilitated the cost, schedule and performance of the Academy-wide common category, Security and Protection. Her duties included leading teams of subject matter experts and functional leaders in order to develop and enable key Category Management deliverables. She has continued her professional education by completing eCornell’s online Diversity and Inclusion course, two Flight Commander Tactical Leadership courses, two AFIT courses in Project Management and Life Cycle Management, as well as multiple Emotional Intelligence, John Maxwell, and Dale Carnegie leadership courses. Additionally, Captain Cimo stays involved in the local community by coaching a youth girls’ soccer team.
