Lieutenant Colonel R. Kaipo McGuire is the Deputy Department Head/Director of Support, Physical Education Department at the United States Air Force Academy. Lt Col McGuire is directly responsible for all manpower and budget items for three departments consisting of Athletic Programs, the Physical Education academic curriculum, and the Fitness and Testing/Evaluation division. He is also the administrator for the Boxing program as well as the Mental Performance coach for all 29 varsity Intercollegiate Sports. Lt Col McGuire earned his PhD in Social Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity in 2013.

Lt Col McGuire is an Influence Officer by trade with his last assignment as the Chief, Air Forces Southern Information Operations. In this capacity, he was in charge of Strategic Communication, Operations Security, Military Information Support Operations, and Military Deception for a 31 Central and South American country area of responsibility. His team garnered numerous MAJCOM and Air Force level awards. Prior to this assignment, Lt Col McGuire was the Chief of the Commander’s Action Group for 12 Air Force where he supported 10 Active Duty Wings and 17 Guard/Reserve Wings. He was born and raised in Honolulu, HI and was commissioned into the Air Force in 2002.
