Falcons Fall to No. 8 Baylor, 78-47

Waco, Texas - The Air Force women's basketball team struggled against national powerhouse Baylor. The undefeated Bears, ranked eighth in the nation, grabbed their 12th consecutive victory with a 78-47 win over the Falcons.
The Bears came out strong from the game's start. The opened up with a 12-2 run and extended their early lead to 28-11 with just over five minutes to go in the half. At the end of the first stanza, the lead was 23 points. Baylor didn't let up in the second half either, opening the half with a 12-0 run.
Several Falcon players finished the game with six points, including Latoya Howell, Emily Gross and Wendy Stillman. Morgan Bennett and Amoy Jackson each had four rebounds to lead Air Force, while Howell had six assists. Air Force struggled again from long-range, connecting on just four-of-22 (.182) attempts from beyond the arc. The team shot .306 (19-of-62) from the field.
Although the Falcons had 22 turnovers, they also tied a season-high with 20 steals. Latoya Howell, who is second in the Mountain West in steals, tied an Air Force single game record with seven steals.
Baylor had a terrific night shooting, hitting on 30-of-59 shots for an outstanding 50.8 percent. Danielle Crockrom had 21 points and Sheila Lambert had 15 points for the Bears. Lambert also added eight assists and had six rebounds for the Falcons. Colorado Springs native Jessika Stratton was 1-of-6 from the field and scored just four points and grabbed four rebounds.
The Falcons (2-8) will board a bus for the eight-hour drive to Pine Bluff, where they will take on Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Dec. 31 in the team's final game of 2001.
