Women's Gymnastics Take First In USAG Finals

DAVIS, Calif. The Falcons edged by their competition to win their first-ever team title in the finals of the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals Championships Friday evening, with a final team score of 192.825. UC Davis secured the second-place position (192.400), followed by Seattle Pacific University (192.050) and Texas Womans University (191.750).
On floor, C2C (Jr.) Bethany Stott led the way for the Falcons, scoring a 9.900, followed by C3C (So.) Jennifer Dougherty and C3C Kimberly Broughton who both scored a 9.825, to help give Air Force a team score of 49.150 on floor.
C1C (Sr.) Amy Hultin scored a 9.725 on beam. Broughton and Dougherty were close behind, both scoring a 9.700 to give the Falcons a team score of 48.250.
On bars, Hultin led the way once again (9.700), followed by Dougherty (9.675) and Broughton (9.650) for a final team score of 47.750 on bars.
Air Force sealed its victory with its performance on vault, scoring a 47.675. Top Falcon vaulters include C1C Elizabeth Weber (9.600) and Broughton (9.575).
The USAG Collegiate Nationals will finish with the individual event finals held Saturday at 1 p.m.
