DeLand, Fla. - (Sept. 3) The Air Force volleyball team suffered a tough loss to Stetson, falling 3-1 (28-30, 28-30, 30-23, 28-30). The Falcons were within two points of victory in every game, but could not put the Hatters away.
"We did not show up," said Penny Lucas-White. "We weren't ready to play. We played a weaker team and lost because we didn't come ready to play."
Sophomore Delavane Diaz led the team in kills for the second straight game with 18 on 46 attacks. She also notched 11 digs for the double-double. Brittany Edmonds, who led the team with 14 digs, also had a double-double, tallying a career-high 14 digs.
Despite losing the first two games, it appeared the Falcons would win the match when they dominated the third game, winning 30-23. But the Falcons couldn't maintain their momentum, as mental errors and several unforced mistakes in game four cost the team any chance at the comeback.
Up next for the Falcons (1-3) is the Air Force Invitational. The Falcons will host Illinois-Chicago, Washington and Southeastern Louisiana in their first home games of the season.
