Jake Hostetler earned Boxer of the Week honors by earning a decision over Clell Knight Friday, Oct. 18th, in the first Friday Night Matches of the season in the Cadet Gym varsity boxing room.
"Clell, a southpaw, was looking to 'load up' on Jake throughout the bout," said head coach Eddie Weichers. "However, Jake used good combinations and and in-and-out attact to earn the decision. In the end, it was Jake's foot and hand speed that proved to be the difference in the bout."
Weichers will take six boxers to Gulfport, MS this weekend to compete in the Mississippi Invitational at the Grand Casino. The Falcon boxers will go against boxers from Army and Navy. The next Friday Night Matches are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 15.
