Buck Falls in Fourth Round at Region Championships

Shannon Buck's run at the Omni Hotels Mountain Region Men's Tennis Championships came to an end in the fourth round Friday with a 6-2, 7-5 loss to Daniel Jung of San Diego State. The eighth-seeded Air Force freshman had won his two previous matches in straight sets.
Also on Friday, senior Eric Pittman and junior Justin Mancinelli won fourth-round consolation matches. Pittman defeated Gabe Coren of San Diego State, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3, while Mancinelli beat Tomasz Grzyb of Utah, 3-6, 6-4, 6-0.
Freshman Martin Black fell in consolation action to Nejc Smole of Denver, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.
In doubles play, Black and Chris Dong beat Stanislav Nevolovich and Gus Treyz of Montana, 8-1 in the third round of consolation. Pittman and sophomore Tyler McClung lost their match to Hans Gaber and Bob Mattson, 8-6.
The tournament continues on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas, Nev.
