Four Falcons Named to Academic All-District Team

Four Air Force players have been named to the Verizon Academic All-District VII men's soccer team. Seniors David Auston, Paul Gagliardi and Mike Taylor and junior Casey Chronister will now go on the ballot for Academic All-America honors.
Auston, from Littleton, Colo., has a career-high three goals this season, including the game-winner against Southwest Missouri State. He has a 3.52 grade-point average and is majoring in astronautical engineering.
Gagliardi, a product of Liberty High School in Colorado Springs, is tied for fifth on the team in scoring with four goals and one assist for nine points. He scored two goals in the Falcons' 4-0 victory over St. Mary's College earlier this season. Gagliardi was a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all-academic team last season and currently carries a 3.38 GPA while majoring in engineering mechanics.
Taylor has started every game in goal for Air Force this season. The Arvada, Colo., product has a 1.93 goals-against average and is second in the MPSF with 80 saves. Taylor, who was selected to the MPSF all-academic team in 2000, has a 3.87 grade-point average and is majoring in mechanical engineering.
Chronister, from Yakima, Wash., returned to the team this season after missing the entire 2001 campaign with a leg injury. He has one goal and one assist this season playing as the team's sweeper. He is also credited with two saves. Chronister is majoring in mechanical engineering and has a 3.79 GPA.
Air Force is currently 8-8-1 and concludes the 2002 regular season this Sunday, Nov. 10 with a game at the University of Denver. The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship Tournament will be held Nov. 14-17 at the University of New Mexico.
