There are few wrestling tournaments as prestigious at the Midlands Invitational. The annual tournament, hosted by Northwestern University, invites the elite wrestlers from around the country. This season, three Air Force wrestlers were invited to participate in the three-day event, which celebrated its 40th anniversary.
Heath McKim (125 pounds), Samuel Sherertz (174 pounds) and Kevin Hoy (Hwt) all received the difficult-to-come by invitations. As the No. 4 seed, Hoy placed third overall with a 5-1 record. His only loss was to the No. 1 seed Steve Mocco, last year's runner up in the national championship. Sherertz finished 2-2 overall, while McKim was 3-2.
